Facebook to Turn Menlo Park Headquarters into Vaccination Site to Speed-Up Drive in US

Facebook incorporated has said that it is converting a part of its Menlo park headquarters, into a vaccination site, joining the government effort to speed up the vaccination drive in the united states.

For this initiative, the company is teaming up with Ravenswood family health centre, chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg wrote in a post.

“We’re also teaming up with the state of California and local non-profits to support mobile vaccination clinics in four of the state’s hardest hit regions,” Sandberg wrote.

Earlier this year, the social media company decided to launch a tool to give people in the United States information about where to get Covid-19 vaccines and added a Covid-19 information area to its photo-sharing site, Instagram.

Cross River to Deploy Drones for Medical Supplies

Rivers State Government has extended the night curfew across the 23 local government areas of the state from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., with effect from Tuesday, in order to curtail attacks on the security apparatus in the State.

Governor Nyesom Wike said Monday that the decision was taken in the wake of multiple armed ambushes on police checkpoints along the East-West road, which resulted in the death of seven police officers over the weekend.

The governor has tasked security agencies to note the new curfew time, ensure strict compliance and effectively deal with any person or group that violates or attempts to violate it.

Ireland Eases Pandemic Restrictions

Ireland on Monday lifted domestic travel restrictions and began a phased reopening of non-essential retailers in the most significant loosening of pandemic curbs so far this year.

After more than five months of severe restrictions, a ban on travel between counties was finally lifted to allow citizens to move freely throughout the Irish Republic.

Meanwhile hairdressers and other personal services, as well as non-essential shops, were permitted to trade once again on an “appointment only” basis.

Galleries, museums, libraries and other cultural attractions were also allowed to unlock their doors to the public.

Around 12,000 businesses are now due to reopen this week according to deputy prime minister, Leo Varadkar, who also serves as enterprise and trade minister.

FG Announces Covid-19 Restrictions

The Federal government has announced Covid 19 restrictions across all 36 states and the federal capital territory (FCT).
The head of technical secretariat of the presidential steering committee (PSC) on Covid 19, Dr Mukhtar Mohammed made the announcement while briefing reporters on Monday in Abuja.

With the restrictions imposed, mass gatherings in public spaces have been confined to 50 individuals at any given time.

Access to government institutions would likewise be denied to anybody not wearing a face mask while government gatherings and travels have been limited to the virtual platform.

As indicated by Mohammed, the government has directed that bars and nightclubs should remain closed and the nationwide curfew will be in force until further notice.

He added that only essential international travels would be encouraged, and all existing protocols must be strictly adhered to.

The PSC member, however, stated that there was no limitation to intra-state travel.
