FOU Zone "B" Intercepts Goods Worth N66 Million in Two Weeks

The Federal Operations Unit, Zone B, Kaduna, has amped up its fight against smuggling and their efforts have seen interception and seizure goods worth N66 Million at various locations across the Zone.

This was made known by the Customs Comptroller in charge of the Unit, Comptroller Hamisu Al-Bashir during an interaction with media in Kaduna.

Notable among the seizures include: 180 peaces of Jack knives, 13 vehicles and 592 bags of foreign parboiled rice (50kg each). Other items are: 227 kegs of vegetable oil, 55 gallons of 25kg each of PMS, 38 bales and 67 sacks of secondhand clothing among others.

The Comptroller encouraged the public in assisting the Unit with valuable information about smuggling activities so as to collectively keep the nation secured against the ills of economic saboteurs.

FG Inaugurates Transition Management Team to Oversee the Handing Over of ICT Services to NCS

On the 28th of October, 2005, an agreement was reached by the Federal Government and Messrs. Web Fontaine Consortium (WFC), for provision, installation, operation and management of IT, Telecommunication Hardware and Software, Training and much more. These systems would enable the Nigeria Customs Service to better facilitate trade and boost revenue collection.

Today, the Transition Monitoring Team was inaugurated to oversee the handing over of ICT Services provided by Webb Fountaine Nigeria Limited to the Nigeria Customs Service.

Our Correspondent, Abdulkareem Zurmi, has more on the event, which took place at the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning.

Customs National PRO Addresses Misleading Information on Recruitment

Reports have reached the Nigeria Customs Service on misleading information concerning zonal venues for the scheduled batch of recruitment screening, which was supposedly signed by Acting Deputy Comptroller General, Mohammed Boyi.

The Customs National PRO, DC Joseph Attah, cleared the air, stating that the Nigeria Customs Service Training and Doctrine Command Gwagwalada, remains the only screening venue.

The Customs National PRO advised the public to be vigilant, as fraudulent antics such as this are just a means to extort money from gullible members of the public.

Clarification on venue for the scheduled Nigeria Customs Service recruitment screening exercise.

The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service has again been drawn to a misleading zonal venues for the scheduled batch of recruitment screening, supposedly signed by the Chairman of the screening committee, Ag. DCG Mohammed Boyi.

The NCS Public Relations Officer, DC Joseph Attah said that some fraudsters are bent on misleading the Candidates, possibly to extort money from them.

‘’For the avoidance of doubt, the only venue for this batch of screening remains as advertised in the National dailies, NCS Training and Doctrine Command, ( NCS TRADOC ) Gwagwalada.
All the Candidates are expected to report there on the dates allocated to their states’’ He added.
