Author: Howdy Busayo, Abuja

Super Eagles assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf has disclosed that Nigeria’s technical crew is working assiduously to identify the strength and weaknesses of the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia ahead of their clash with the 3-time African Champions in the round of 16 of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria garnered 9 maximum points from their 3 matches in Group D to emerge as group winners while Tunisia secured their qualification ticket after finishing as one of the best 3rd placed teams at the group stage.

“Like every other game, Tunisia have their pluses and minuses. We are going to study them critically and identify their strength and weaknesses so that we can exploit their weaknesses while containing their strength,” Yusuf said.

The Kano Pillars coach also described the support the team as received in Cameroon as heartwarming while stressing the fact that the Nigerian community has made the venue “home away from home.”

“The support here is enormous, they have shown love to our country and everybody wants us to win. They have made us feel like we are playing in Nigeria from the first day we arrived and we hope we keep winning so that they continue to be happy with us,” he added.

Yusuf lauded the Eagles players for their resounding performance at the group stage, saying they deserve kudos and must be celebrated. He however charged the boys to continue towing that line at the crucial knockout round of the competition.

There is so much commitment on the part of the players and I think we should give them kudos for fighting so well so far,” the 2008 Nigeria Professional Football League-title winning coach added.

The Super Eagles take on the Carthage Eagles on Sunday at 8pm Nigerian time as they hope to win their 4th AFCON title.
