Overcoming internet addiction

The internet is an excellent tool when it comes to learning, connecting with friend, networking and launching businesses. however internet addiction can come to play when the fine line between using it productivity and using it excessively is crossed

Overcoming your internet addiction may seem difficult at first but this can be achieved with time and discipline

How to overcome internet addiction

1. Admit you have a problem

This is the first step to becoming better. Once you recognize that you have a problem,  it will be easier to work on yourself

2. Set priorities

Setting new goals and schedule can help you to know what your major priorities are. This can help you keep busy and stay off your phone

3. Set a timer and keep to it

If you want to be on the internet, decide the amount you want to spend so when your timer goes off, you know when to stop.

4. Find a Hobby

Look for  new hobbies like playing basketball, tennis, poker,  cooking etc, activities like this can help you stay off the internet

5. Go out with friends or loved ones

Spending time and having physical conversations with people we care about can distract us from the fact that we have not been online all day can help with overcoming internet addiction

6. Engage in mental and physical exercises such as meditation and taking a walk can help take our minds off the internet

Instead of spending hours on the internet stalking people and engaging in unproductive interactions, you can use those hours to visit helpful sites that can help you grow as a person which makes overcoming internet addiction easier.

Facebook Inc FB.O on Thursday said that its Whatsapp Messaging App would start to offer in-app purchases and hosting services, as it moves to boost revenue from the app while knitting together e-commerce infrastructure across the company.

The world’s biggest social media company has been trying to boost sales from higher-growth units such as Instagram and WhatsApp, which it bought in 2014 for $19 billion but has been slow to monetize.

With the changes, This will enable businesses sell products inside WhatsApp via Facebook shops, an online store launched in May to offer a unified shopping experience across Facebook’s apps.

The Company will also enter the cloud computing sector, offering firms who use its customer service messaging tools the ability to store those messages on face book servers.

Chinese Tiktok Invites African Entrepreneurs to Join Elevator Pitch Event

Chinese video sharing service, Tiktok invites African entrepreneurs to join the world-first elevator pitch in the sky event.

Boniswa Sidwaba, content operations manager at Tiktok Africa team, said in a statement that all founders of early-stage start-ups in Africa and the middle east have until Sept. 24 to submit an innovative one-minute Tiktok video pitch that will inform and impress the global panel of expert judges, using the platform’s easy-to-use video editing tools.

Sidwaba also stated that the funding initiative will provide entrepreneurs with the opportunity to compete for 1.08 Million Shillings (about 10,000 U.S. Dollars) investment and one-year mentorship from the Gritti fund which is the world’s first purpose-driven and happiness-focused investment fund.

According to Sidwaba, as part of the initiative, local Tiktok users will be able to view the pitches tagged #Pitchupinthesky as well as interviews with a judging panel of world-famous entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.

F.G Spends 20BN in Hazard Allowance Payment to Health Workers

The federal government has revealed that N20 billion was spent on the payment of hazard and inducement allowance to health workers. F-G.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said this in a statement on Tuesday. He said that the payments were made for April, May and June 2020 to the frontline health workers despite the economic crisis faced by the country during the COVID-19 period. F-G.

The minister appealed to the National Association of Resident Doctors to suspend its ongoing strike while noting that 6 out of 8 demands listed by the body have already been addressed by the government.

He added that the government expended N9.3 billion as premium for Group Life Insurance for Health workers, civil and public servants in federal organizations. F-G.
